American Heritage Girls (AHG) is the premier national scouting organization for young women that embraces Christian values and encourages family involvement. All girls, ages 5-18, are welcome.

Mission Statement: Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.

Program Emphasis: Life skill - enhancement through multi-level badge program

Girl Leadership: Opportunities at all program levels. Pathfinders - Kindergarten; Tenderfoot - 1st-3rd grade; Explorers - 4th-6th grade; Pioneers- 7th-8th grade; Patriots - 9th-12th grade.

Developing teamwork and building confidence: Varied outdoor experiences, including camping at least twice a year.

Character development: Community service and citizenship programs. We do about eight service projects a year. We participate in the Thanksgiving Food Drive, Star of Hope, Operation Christmas Child, send boxes of gifts to support our military overseas and the recycling project at the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC.

Social Development: Various organized special events including an annual Father / Daughter dance, an annual lock-in with other AHG troops in the area and monthly activities. In February, we were the first American Heritage Girl Troop to have a wreath laying ceremony at Mt Vernon for our 1st President George Washington.

Spirtual Devlopment: Religious awards program and weekly devotionals. This years devotions are taken from "His Princess Love Letters from Your King," by Sheri Rose Shepherd.

You maybe wondering why AHG and not Girl Scouts? AHG has an emphasis on Christ  in our oath and creed. We do not put any other religion in it's place.

AHG also offers the Stars and Stripes award for our older girls. That is the equalvalent to the Eagle Scout Award for Boy Scouts and the Gold Award for Girl Scouts.

You may go to www.ahgonline.org for more information about our organization.

RELIGIOUS AWARD

All Scouting programs are eligible to earn a religious medal, patch, and certificate that is age-appropriate to the different grade levels. All programs are chartered through Immanuel Bible Church and each group's by-laws are written in accordance with the church's statement of faith.
