September 11, the congregation and guests of Immanuel met at 6pm for a "Service of Remembrance" to  acknowledge and honor the sacrifice of the victims of 911. President George W. Bush, in his remarks at the National Day of Prayer & Remembrance on September 14, 2001, said this:

"We are here in the middle hour of our grief. So many have suffered so great a loss, and today we express our nation's sorrow. We come before God to pray for the missing and the dead, and for those who loved them."

Ten years have passed since that tragic day; the pain of loss for many has not been diminished by the passage of time.  September 11 we again gathered together to grieve for the lost, comfort the living, and pray for our nation.

On that day in 2001, 184 people died at the Pentagon, 125 civilians and military personnel and 64 on American Airlines Flight 77. We are asking members of our congregation who were affected by the events of that day to share their memories with us. Use the contact form below to write a brief testimony or recollection of that day which we will be able to share during the service.

"As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive."
Genesis 50:20

LTC Jerry Dickerson and his family were members of Immanuel in 2001. The 41-year-old lieutenant colonel was killed while working at the Pentagon when it was struck by one of the hijacked planes. Read more here>
