Men's Ministry
"Men on a Mission"
The Men's Ministry of Immanuel Bible Church is sending eleven men from IBC (including four from Hispanos en Cristo) and three from Gateway Bible Church to Rwanda, East Africa for two weeks, July 20 to August 3. The team will be working with Pastor Charles Buregeya and Africa New Life Ministries. The mission will include a number of activities:
- Conducting a weekend conference for men
- Constructing an 850-foot chain-link fence
- Continuing computer networking work started last year
- Looking for evangelism opportunities with the men of Rwanda, many of whom have grown up with no men in their lives because of the genocide in 1994.
- Using music, soccer, and volleyball to help make friends
- Meeting with Government and business leaders to generate interest and opportunities for micro-enterprises.
Background of Rwanda:
Rwanda is the smallest, most densely populated country in Africa. It is the size of Maryland, but has ten million people, twice as many as Maryland. It is also the poorest country in Africa. Besides effects of the genocide and unemployment, HIV/AIDS and other diseases are prevalent.
Cost of the trip:
About $4000 per man, including transportation, lodging, food, construction materials, balls, literature, and computer networking supplies.
How you can help:
- Pray for the men on the team
- Pray for the men of Rwanda
- Pray for Africa New Life Ministries
