Feeding Needs
Saturday, May 19, 7:00-11:00am
Experts estimate that one of every six households in the Washington region struggles to put food on the table. Many of these hungry families live right around our church! Immanuel is now a member of the Capital Area Food Bank and provides food to those in need in our community. We will offer ample quantities of food received through the Food Bank as well as spiritual encouragement, music, refreshments and health/nutrition resources. Feeding Needs requires 25-30 volunteers each month. Small groups, Bible studies and families are encouraged to serve together! If you’re interested in helping our church reach out to our immediate community in a new and positive way, contact Bette in the Mission and Outreach Office at 703-813-1954, or This email address is being protected from spambots. Central Union Mission Food Drive
Sunday, May 20, All Services, Braddock Road Entrance
Every week the Mission provides nearly 300 people with non-perishable foods through their Food Depot Program. While many of the clients are not homeless, they do suffer financial hardships. The food depot serves senior citizens, single families as well as the Hispanic community. The Mission recognizes that hunger does not always stem from homelessness or unemployment, it affects the working impoverished as well. Immanuel holds a food drive in conjunction with our communion services in support of this important ministry. Grace Ministries Immigrant Outreach in Northern Virginia
On Friday at 9am, volunteers set up tables, sort clothes, unload food and bag food from the Food Bank truck, and enjoy a lunch afterwards. On Saturday morning, doors open at 6am to give out numbers with distribution beginning at 7am. If you would like to help as a volunteer, come and enjoy this ministry of service to our neighbors. Just bring your enthusiasm and love to others. If you want to practice or learn some Spanish, this is a good opportunity. You can help us at the registration table and meet the people.
