Adult Bible Fellowships

Ambassadors:

The Ambassadors share traits common to all Immanuel Bible Church ABFs, promoting concepts that will allow us to Seek Him Constantly, Serve Him Faithfully, and Share Him Boldly. These objectives are accomplished through ministry in the Word, prayer, and fellowship.

The Ambassadors’ consistent works of service and sharing distinguishes our approach to “Sunday School.” We organize ourselves around tables thus providing the environment for development of long-term friendships, support, and prayer partners. The goal is to strengthen the spiritual life of each member, and ensure no one feels alone in our midst. The frequent hosting of Care and Share Fellowship Sundays, as well as seasonal social activities provide opportunities to have fun and get to know each other better. The Serving Him Faithfully aspect comes primarily from two worship events that are conducted on a monthly basis. The fourth Saturday evening of each month the Ambassadors are downtown at the Central Union Mission, and, in the afternoon of the second Sunday, they minister to the folks at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Springfield. Other special emphasis days include Missions Sunday (1st Sunday of each month), Parking Ministry Sunday (2nd Sunday of each month), Ambassadors of the Month Sunday (3rd Sunday of each month), and Lunch Together Sunday (3rd Sunday of each month).

In the area of Seeking Him Constantly, our class sponsors a bi-weekly Bible Study that meets in a member’s home. Gifted, spiritual men from within the Ambassadors’ ABF lead these discussions. Those visiting the Ambassadors on Sunday mornings can expect either a practical series based on the Bible similar to the ones taught in the past; Healthy Christian Lifestyles, Communication to the Emotional Needs of Men and Women, Henry Blackaby’s “Experiencing God”, and one of Kay Arthur’s books, “Lord, I Want to Know You,” or a study of a book in the Bible; Job, Psalms, 1 Peter, Daniel, James and a 15-week study of the Sermon on the Mount. As it is taught, each individual study within these series is available through a link from this page. Mini series have addressed such subjects as The Prayer of Jesus, Dynamic Marriage, History and Fundamentals of the Islam Faith, “Prayer – an Open Heart to God”, and Josh McDowell’s book, “The DaVinci Code – A Quest for Answers.” We also completed a 12-week series on issues in the Church, from the New Testament to where we are today.

As with the 3-week series on Josh McDowell’s book mentioned above, our just completed study series on the “Contagious Christian” is in the context of Sharing Him Boldly. We will continue the Sharing theme as we conduct a verse-by-verse study of the Book of Acts led by John Procopio.
