MISSION

To serve children with special needs in gaining knowledge and love for Jesus Christ, by integrating them into a developmentally appropriate classroom environment in order to provide them an opportunity to receive the gospel of Christ.

OBJECTIVES

  • Partner with the parents to provide a safe, secure welcoming environment for their children which will allow parents to pursue the gospel of Christ.
  • Partner children with adult buddies to provide assistance in the classroom.
  • Help children participate in classroom activities.
  •  Help the child develop Christ-like peer relationships/friendships.
  •  To provide training for volunteers and support them in their service to these children and families.

WE WELCOME CHILDREN WHO...

  • Have a difficult time tolerating group settings and participating in group activities.
  • Have a high activity level or short attention span.
  • Have difficulty relating socially to peers.
  • Have impulsive behavior and/or easily distracted.

...and/or who have been given the medical diagnosis*:

  • Autistic spectrum disorder
  • Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD)
  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
  • Sensory Processing Disorder
  • Rett Syndrome
  • Down Syndrome

(*An official medical diagnosis is not necessary to receive assistance with TLC.)

WANT TO VOLUNTEER?

We are currently looking for people who would be willing to be a Buddy to a child during our weekend worship services. Buddies must be 16 years or older and do not need to have previous experience working with children.  Training and supervision is provided. Buddies are paired in teams and serve every other week.
